Ultra-wide angles allow for dynamic perspectives and compositions with a minimum focusing distance of just 12cm when manually focused (15cm with autofocus). You can also use it to emphasize distance in videos when the foreground subject appears to be far away from the horizon.

When you shoot from the bottom up, for example from a frog perspective, you get the classic effect of emphasizing the size of the subject. Or if you shoot a person from behind, showing their back for the first time in your video so that they cover almost the entire screen, you get the classic effect of a suspenseful/suspicious character. An ultra-wide angle lens is needed for all cinematic storytelling.

This new Sony E 11mm f1.8 lens is made for Sony E-mount APS-C sensor cameras. In crop mode, this can also be used on full-frame cameras. The focal length range of the lens is well suited for landscape photography, travel photography, videography, vloggers and content creators. S

Ony has also invested in optical quality to ensure your images and videos are sharp and flawless: three optimally positioned aspherical elements correct the curvature common in such a wide-angle lens and improve sharpness right to the edges of the image. Three ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements enhance image quality by preventing chromatic aberrations and errors.
