SmallRig has launched an interesting camera backpack that combines modular storage and an exceptionally well-designed carrying system for heavy-duty use.

The backpack's most interesting feature is probably its built-in layer system: fold-over and tie-down flaps keep your gear in place, while traditional Velcro dividers are included for more precise division. The backpack distributes the weight of heavy camera equipment evenly across your body and is made of weather-resistant materials.

This is Smallrig's first backpack aimed at active photographers and professionals. Instead of the manufacturer's sturdy tripods, this one doesn't have to be a basic product, but rather has a lot of details and features. Photographers carrying heavier equipment will especially appreciate the carrying comfort and the customizable interior with attachable shelves to keep valuable equipment safe and organized.

A perennial problem with camera backpacks is managing small accessories like batteries and cables. SmallRig solves this by including three accessory pouches in different sizes. They can be placed inside the backpack, attached to the outside with straps, or even hung from a hip belt, so that the most important small accessories are always within quick reach without opening the backpack.

The interior is customizable, unlike many traditional models, thanks to the aforementioned three-layer system. In addition to the traditional Velcro-fastened dividers, there are foldable safety flaps. These are tied over the equipment and ensure that cameras and lenses remain firmly in their respective slots even when the backpack is opened on uneven terrain or in flight, preventing heavy equipment from falling on top of each other.

Carrying comfort is the backbone of the backpack, and it is designed specifically for long shooting days. The wide and padded S-shaped shoulder straps, together with an adjustable sternum strap and an 11-centimeter wide hip belt, effectively distribute up to 15 kilos of load off your shoulders. The back is equipped with ventilation channels and moisture-wicking mesh fabric, which keeps your back drier. The hip belt is removable if you want to use the backpack lighter in urban conditions. The hip belt also has a zippered pocket for small items.

The backpack is made of durable 420D fabric, and its base is exceptionally thick and densely woven nylon, which is highly resistant to abrasion and cuts. There is no need to pull out the rain cover in case of light rain, as the surface material is water-repellent and the zippers are weather-protected.
