Samyang's popular manual focus 14mm wide-angle lens has been updated! Optically, it's similar to the acclaimed previous model, but there have been major improvements in usability.
The Samyang MF 14mm is a great choice for landscape photography or capturing the starry sky, for example. The lens is manual focus, but such a wide-angle lens is easy to focus on thanks to the wide depth of field. And in this new version, usability has been taken to a new level with many improvements.
The focus ring has been treated with a new coating and the focus ring travel is smaller, meaning that focusing from infinity to close range is achieved with less movement. In addition, the focus can be locked in place, which is a handy feature for stargazing! The precisely adjusted focus stays in place even when you are in a forest at night.
The Samyang MF 14mm also includes depth of field markings at apertures 5.6, 8 and 11. This means that when taking pictures, you can quickly estimate that the image will be sharp at aperture 8 between 50cm and 3 meters, etc. Another very good way to use it is to estimate at which aperture the background of a landscape photo and the foreground object or, for example, a rock will also be sharp.
The lens is now weather-protected on the bayonet side with a seal. The aperture adjustment can be clicked in steps of one aperture, even in low light, but for video use, for example, the aperture adjustment can also be made silent.
