The Nikon Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S is a brand new professional lens designed for Nikon Z series mirrorless cameras. It is Nikon's smallest, lightest and best-looking f2.8 professional zoom. It offers sharp images even at full aperture, even at the edges of the image.

Thanks to Nikon's new bayonet, the lens is approximately 25% smaller and 18% lighter than the previous 24-70mm F2.8 version. The size difference is even more noticeable in practice because the previous model requires the use of an FTZ adapter. The 24-70mm S is a new design in terms of optical construction. The lens consists of 17 lens elements in 15 different groups. Two ED lenses are used to correct distortion and four aspherical elements. For the first time, Nikon has introduced a new ARNEO lens coating, which reduces flare and ghosting even in difficult conditions, such as when shooting against bright backlight.

The Nikkor Z 24-70 S is also designed to meet the demands of video shooting, with silent autofocus that finds the subject quickly and accurately. In addition, focus breathing, i.e. the disturbing change in focal length during focusing, has been minimized in the new model.

Professional-level usability:

In addition to the zoom and focus rings, the Nikkor 24-70mm S includes a programmable control ring . This additional control ring, located closest to the body, can be programmed to control, for example, aperture or exposure compensation. In addition to the ring, the lens has a programmable L-Fn button, the function of which can be selected from over 20 possibilities. On the top of the lens is an OLED display , which shows the focal length, aperture or focus distance, as well as an estimate of the depth of field.

The lens uses a new autofocus system, where two separate focus motors move the two focus groups simultaneously. According to the manufacturer, this speeds up the process of finding focus very quickly at different focusing distances.

The Nikon 24-70mm S is weather-sealed to protect against dust and splash water, as is the case with professional lenses. In addition, the outer lens elements have a fluorine coating, which keeps the lenses cleaner and makes cleaning easier.
