Optical performance and unique near-field lens

The optical quality of the Leica Monovid 8x25 is designed to provide a sharp and natural image right to the edges. The device uses a roof prism with P40 phase correction, which the user sees as better contrast and sharper object outlines.

In addition, the prism utilizes Leica's HighLux-System (HLS) technology, which acts as a highly efficient mirror, minimizing light loss. The outer surfaces of the lenses have an HDC multi-layer coating, which improves light transmission to 90 percent and protects the lens surface and makes cleaning easier.

The monocular has an exit pupil of 3.1 millimeters, which gives it good light output during the day and in normal lighting conditions.

The closest focusing distance is two meters as standard. However, the special feature of the device is the close-up lens that comes with it. When you screw the close-up lens onto the front of the lens, the focusing distance is shortened to 25-30 centimeters. This allows you to use the monocular as a super-sharp macro lens.
