Laowa 180mm f/4.5 1.5x Ultra-Macro APO Lens (Sony FE) lens

Laowa 180mm f/4.5 1.5x Ultra-Macro APO Lens (Sony FE)

Now that's a long name for a lens, but it has a lot of features! A 180mm focal length, which is rare in a macro lens these days, 1.5x magnification, apochromatic construction and autofocus. The autofocus works from 1.49m away, meaning that when shooting close-ups, focusing is done manually.

• 1.5x magnification even without zoom rings
• Thanks to the focal length, a working distance of 14.7cm even at full magnification (i.e. the distance from the tip of the lens)
• Autofocus
• Aperture adjustment directly from the camera
• Apochromatic or CA chromatic aberrations minimized

The lens is designed to maintain high-quality color, contrast, and sharpness even at the edges of the image. The APO feature minimizes chromatic aberration, which is often a problem in macro photography.

The lens has a reasonable F4.5 aperture, which makes it quite compact. Often, macro photography also requires a narrower aperture to achieve a wider depth of field. The lens weighs 522g and has a filter thread of 62mm.

The focus ring is large and has a firm feel, making it suitable for precise work when the depth of field is very shallow.

Unlike many Laowa lenses, this Canon version allows aperture control from the camera. The EXIF ??files also record detailed shooting information, such as the aperture value used. The lens also has a USB-C port for software updates.
