If you are wondering which binocular magnification and lens diameter would be best for you, it is often 8x, because 8x magnification is significantly more stable than 10x.

The advantage of 8x32 binoculars over 8x42 binoculars is their smaller physical size. This may even fit in your pocket. If you are looking for better light output, i.e. if you know you will be looking at things other than during the day, then look at the GPO Passion ED 8x42 .

While GPO's flagship model, the Passion HD, focuses strictly on performance, this Passion ED offers an excellent balance of performance and price. The Passion ED is therefore aimed at those looking for a quality binocular with a good price-performance ratio.

Although many features and components are the same in both the Passion ED and HD, there are some differences between them that have kept the price of the ED lower. The Passion ED uses "normal" ED glass lenses and lacks the hydrophobic outer coating. The third difference between the ED and HD models is that the diopter is not lockable in this ED model.

The magnesium alloy body of the GPO binoculars is lined with a non-textured rubber protective coating that covers the bridge and part of the binocular tubes. In addition to helping protect the optics, the rubber coating also allows for a slightly firmer grip, even when the binoculars' surface or palms are slightly wet.

The large focusing wheel that fits under the index finger is fast. From the closest (2m) focusing distance to infinity, it takes just over one full turn. Being able to focus quickly from close to far is an asset that is especially popular with birdwatchers. The diopter adjustment (+- 2.5 dpt) can be found behind the right eyepiece. This adjustment has a stiffer resistance, so it does not easily move to the wrong position accidentally.

Behind the front hinge cover is a standard 1/4" female thread, so you can use a separately purchased tripod adapter to attach the binoculars to a tripod or even a tripod.
