The Yashica Journey is a stripped-down, affordable vertical handheld video camera. It doesn't compete with current smartphones or DSLRs in performance, but offers an alternative for photographers looking for a deliberately softer, unprocessed digital lo-fi image.

The camera is suitable for casual everyday recording, creative experiments, or as a lightweight lifestyle camera for situations where the image does not need to be technically perfect or where an imperfect result is specifically desired.

Simple point-and-shoot operation: The camera's design relies on traditional handheld camcorder ergonomics and a touchscreen. There are no complicated menus or automation, making shooting straightforward. The 2.0-inch tilting screen makes it easy to frame footage, even when filming yourself.

• Traditional vertical design: Ergonomic, lightweight plastic body that offers a classic camcorder grip and fits into a small space.
• Lo-fi digital image: Although the camera records at a nominal 4K resolution (30 fps), the small CMOS sensor and simplified optics produce a soft image that is reminiscent of digital home videos from years past.
• Fixed Focus: The camera does not have real-time autofocus. The optics are locked to capture sharp images from about half a meter to infinity.
• 3.5 mm microphone jack: The clearest practical advantage of the device is the separate microphone port, which allows you to connect an external microphone to improve sound quality.
