The Voigtländer 35mm F2 APO offers uncompromising image quality. A manual focus lens for Sony cameras.

The Voigtlander Apo-Lanthar 35mm F2 is made to achieve maximum image quality. It is apochromatic, meaning that chromatic aberrations are minimized, there is no distortion, and the image sharpness is in a class of its own.
The lens is fully manual focus but does support Sony's focus aids such as Focus peaking. Exif information is also saved in the images and the camera can use the frame drop correctly.
The sharpness is fine! There are no soft spots at all apertures, at all distances and in the entire image area. The lens has a lot of special elements and a so-called floating lens structure, i.e. the same tricks as in new lenses from other manufacturers. So there will be no problems with, for example, Sony high-resolution models. The aperture is also completely round at aperture values ??of 2, 2.8, 5.6 and 16, but the bokeh can be a little livelier than with faster options. Geometric distortions are also minimal, so with this lens you don't need to make lens corrections in the camera, and the finished image file is as good as new.
The only negative thing about the image quality may be vignetting at full aperture, but on the other hand, this is the easiest problem to eliminate in the image.
The optical structure is complex, meaning there are many lenses, 7 of which are special elements, in addition to multi-layer coatings and the previously advertised apochromaticity, all in the same package.
The same precision and pursuit of perfection continues in the mechanical quality, meaning everything from the feel of the focus and aperture adjustment to the clean feel in the hand is in order. And this is on a completely different level compared to the Leica-compatible lenses on which this is based, compared to the lenses designed for Sony.
If F2 aperture and manual focus are acceptable and your goal is technical perfection, this is a good option for a 35mm lens.
