This is a fun accessory! The Ulanzi VF01 is an optical viewfinder that attaches to the camera's hot shoe. It allows you to shoot from the hip, or waist height, bringing the feel and ergonomics of a traditional analog camera to digital photography. This also works in the same way as the shaft viewfinders of Hasselblad and Rolleiflex, for example, i.e. the image is correct in the vertical position but a mirror image in the horizontal direction, but you get used to this surprisingly quickly!

The viewfinder is designed specifically for street and situation photographers who want to free themselves from staring at the rear screen and shoot from a more discreet low angle. But don't think of this as a tool for stealthy ninja-style street photography, because on the other hand, you can maintain contact with your subject in a whole new way when the camera is not in the way!

The viewfinder's optics are designed to reduce distortion and have high transmission, making it an excellent tool for landscape and street photography, where the subject is rarely completely locked into the lens.

Because the Ulanzi VF01 is a separate optical viewfinder, it does not see "through the lens". This means that the viewfinder image and the image recorded by the camera will differ slightly, especially when shooting close-up (less than 1-2 meters), especially if the hot shoe is not in the center of the optics, which creates a slight so-called parallax error. But at longer distances, the error disappears and when shooting close-up, it is worth leaving a little margin for margin.

The VF01's body is made of durable aluminum and ABS plastic, and is finished with a leather-like silicone surface. This gives the accessory a stylish retro look that fits well with cameras such as Fujifilm's X-series, Ricoh GR series, or Nikon ZF and Leica.
