Tamron continues to forge its own path in terms of focal lengths and introduces a very interesting new product. This lens is designed as a lighter and smaller alternative to the popular 35-150mm f/2-2.8 model, offering top-notch performance in a much more compact size. Weighing just 565 grams and measuring 11.9 centimeters long, the zoom lens offers a constant f/2.8 aperture throughout the entire focal length range.

While its big brother, the 35-150mm, is a great tool for event photographers, many have found it too heavy and bulky to carry around all day. This new 35-100mm f/2.8 shines as a great one-lens tactical solution for street and travel photography, for example. Instead of the classic 24-70mm, this gives you more reach for portraits without having to compromise on the fast f/2.8 aperture.

The optical performance of the lens is impressive: it produces sharp results right from f/2.8 at full aperture, especially in the center of the image at both 35mm and 100mm focal lengths. The 9-blade rounded diaphragm creates beautiful, soft bokeh in images that beautifully separate the subject from the background and make the lens ideal for portrait photography.

The lens also features the manufacturer's BBAR-G2 coating, which keeps reflections and ghosting very well under control while maintaining excellent image contrast.

Close-up capabilities add to the lens' versatility. At the wide-angle end (35mm), the closest focusing distance is just 22 centimeters (magnification ratio 1:3.3), allowing for more tightly cropped detail shots. At the telephoto end (100mm), the closest focusing distance is 65 centimeters. Focusing is handled by Tamron's advanced VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor, which tracks moving subjects reliably, silently and quickly.

Like modern Tamron lenses, this model also features a convenient USB-C port, which allows you to connect the lens to the TAMRON Lens Utility software for iOS, Android, and PC. This allows you to program the functions of the focus setting button and three-position switch on the lens to suit your shooting needs.
