The Sony PDT-FP1 looks a bit like a smartphone, but you can't make calls with it. But it does almost everything else, there's focus and exposure assistance for previewing video, and streaming is fast with a 5G connection, even in broadcast-quality. However, the device is very attractively priced considering its features, making it suitable for small businesses and communities, as well as ambitious livestreaming enthusiasts.

5G connectivity uses multiple standards and the hardware is built with reliability in mind, starting with dual SIM support (1 physical + eSIM), the device can switch directly to the connection that provides a better signal. There is also a Wifi connection and a wireless LAN connection.

For professional use, the Sony PDT-FP1 includes a cooling fan, so even longer recordings and broadcasts can be successful.

In addition to streaming, files can be transferred to FTP servers or Sony's Creators' Cloud.
