This is a real problem solver for wildlife photographers and demanding conditions! SmallRig 5566 acts as a link tower between your camera and your smart device. It amplifies the camera's own Wi-Fi signal and allows you to remotely control the camera from up to 500 meters away.

Most modern cameras have Wi-Fi and remote control capabilities, but their range is often only a few meters and the connection drops easily. This device picks up the signal and extends its range significantly, allowing you to shoot in situations where you don't want to or can't be in direct proximity to the camera.
Nature photography: You can place the camera near an animal feeding place or nest and retreat further away to avoid disturbing sensitive subjects.
Weather conditions: If it is extremely cold outside or the conditions are very difficult, you can leave the camera on a tripod (protected from the weather) and control it yourself from a warm car or tent.
Difficult locations: If the camera is mounted high on a boom or in a dangerous location, you can control it safely from the ground.
The device does not require SmallRig's own app to work, but is compatible with camera manufacturers' own apps (e.g. Sony, Canon, Nikon, Panasonic, DJI, Insta360). So you get access to familiar functions: live image preview, focus point selection, zoom, exposure adjustment, and video/photo shooting, all directly from your phone or tablet.
Note: Because the device uses Wi-Fi and mobile apps, there will always be a slight lag in the live image compared to expensive professional links using HDMI. This device is great for setting up, monitoring and shooting, but tracking a fast-moving subject in real time using only the screen can be challenging. However, according to Smallrig, under optimal conditions, the lag is very low, only 0.06 seconds.
The device is powered via a USB-C port (5V/1A). It does not have an internal battery, so you will need a power bank or V-mount battery (with a separate adapter) to power it. The body has multiple 1/4" threads, making it easy to attach a power bank mount or mounting arm.
