The long-awaited Peak Design Travel Tripod camera tripod is here! Peak Design, which has been designing the tripod for four years, has revamped the tripod's structure with new and smart solutions, resulting in a very sleek travel tripod. We sent the test tripod to Adventuregrapher, known from Youtube, before the release. The language is English internationally, but the stability tests shown in the video were done in domestic conditions:

Kameraliike.fi has also already had the chance to test the new product: The first impression is astonishment, after opening the box, a soft transport bag containing the tripod is pulled out of the case. This bag is very small, will the tripod fit in here? And it does. Often a transport bag feels convenient, but often the tripod is attached to a backpack or thrown into the car. Due to the size and material, this is probably the first tripod storage bag that I use more than on the way home from the camera store. Although the tripod is light, it somehow feels sturdy and even heavy compared to its size.

The tripod has been delayed several times, but the time taken certainly shows in the quality of the construction. The center tube is the smallest I've seen and the ball head is very delicate but still tightens very well and feels very sturdy. For example, the center tube tightening is really tight, and the tensioner is pressed separately into the transport position, so dragging the tripod won't accidentally open it. The Travel Tripod is full of little details like these.

Features like the hidden phone holder in the center tube are not even noticeable at first glance. We used the tripod with a small Sony RX100 VII camera and a slightly larger Canon 500mm F4 + EOS 7D Mark II combination to test its stability. Of course, this is not the right tripod for a long telephoto lens, but few people would even dare to put that combination on a mini tripod.

The first impression was positive, and we predict that this will become the best-selling single stand model in the store's history.

The Travel Tripod is, as its name suggests, designed for photographers who are on the move and travel a lot, as the tripod takes up little space. When packed into its travel size, the tripod has a base of about 8 cm, which makes it a more streamlined and significantly more compact package than, for example, Manfrotto's BeFree or MeFOTO's RoadTrip tripods. However, the folded length (39cm) of the Peak Travel Tripod tripod is in the same category as competitors' travel tripods - the tripod can easily fit into most backpacks and hand luggage.

Despite its compact size, the Travel Tripod is a full-size tripod and can support a larger body + lens combination. When fully extended, the tripod stands 152 cm tall and has a load capacity of 9.1 kg.

The stand consists of 5-part telescopic legs, which are locked with traditional Flip-lock lever locks.

Like all Peak Design products, the Travel Tripod is Arca Swiss compatible, and comes with a compatible quick release plate in addition to the ball head. You don't have to use just Peak Design's Arca-Swiss quick release plates, as the ball head will accept any manufacturer's Arca plate (e.g. Sirui, 3 Legged Thing). In addition, the Travel Tripod works with the entire Peak Design ecosystem. The tripod has slots for Anchor Link loops, which allows you to carry the tripod using Peak Design straps. You can also attach your camera to the tripod using 3 Legged Thing's L-rails.
