The return of a classic. The Panasonic GH5 was a multi-function tool for media productions. It takes still photos and the video quality is sufficient for even demanding production use. And the weight is also in the word tool, the body is made to withstand use and there is no recording time limit.
Are you familiar with the GH5 series? Here are some experiences using the camera while making a TV series! The example camera is the previous version, so this Mark II version also promises several usability improvements and great new features for live streaming, for example.
That's a lot of upgrades and features for even the most demanding user. Externally, this GH5M2 is largely the same as its predecessor, the changes are under the hood.
The processor is borrowed from the top-of-the-line S1H model. Now, improvements to autofocus familiar from other models have been made available, especially when shooting fast subjects at higher frame rates, the AF works clearly better, i.e. it reacts to movement and tracks the subject faster.
Thanks to the new processor, 4K video recording is possible with 10-bit color depth also at 50FPS and 60FPS settings. In addition to video features, usability aids have been improved, including double zebras, more customizable vectorscope views and other features that are convenient for everyday work.
The sensor is otherwise the same as the GH5, but includes a new anti-reflective coating. At least in the manufacturer's test shots with difficult backlighting and point-like light sources, the difference is clear.
The Panasonic X2000 camcorder has been very popular thanks to its easy live streaming and now the GH5 Mark II includes the same goodies. Streaming is possible by connecting directly to a Wifi network or using a phone. Later, a software update will add tethering to a phone and wired LAN connection via USB!
The Lumix Sync app is available for your phone, which helps you make adjustments. Settings can also be saved to an SD memory card and the camera can be connected directly to a WiFi network. This means you can have different cards in your camera bag for different locations and occasions, and you can use the adjustments immediately without having to browse menus.
The Panasonic GH5 II supports RTMP/RTMPS standards, meaning you can stream directly to YouTube and Facebook.
