Most camera backpacks are either ones that allow easy access to the contents of the backpack, or ones that are comfortable to carry on your back. However, rarely do these two features come together in one backpack. The two shoulder straps of the backpack provide comfort, but normally you can't access your cameras without taking the backpack off your back. The Lowepro Flipside AW 200 II camera backpack solves this problem: the backpack's hip strap and opening back panel allow the backpack to be turned on its stomach , making it easy to access your equipment and creating a stable "work surface".

Lowepro's Flipside series of backpacks has been around for a decade, and this 2018 AW II model updates the backpack with modern materials and adds a protective compartment for a laptop and tablet.

The main entrance of the Flipside 200AW II camera backpack is at the back of the backpack , from where the back panel opens completely. The back panel opens slightly wider than before due to the slightly thinner design. Thanks to this small difference, the items at the bottom of the backpack are easier to access when the backpack is turned to the stomach using the waist strap. Inside the backpack there is a spacious and customizable interior for camera equipment. By default, the camera with lens is at the bottom of the backpack, and other lenses/flash devices are in compartments formed by padded dividers. With the help of removable and movable partitions, it is possible to customize the interior of the backpack to your desired shape and to suit your own camera equipment. The back panel against the back of the backpack is relatively thick , so even oddly shaped items will not poke your back when you carry the backpack on your back.

A good hip belt is an excellent addition to a backpack that is used to carry even heavy loads. In addition to allowing the backpack to be turned to the front, the Flipside's padded and relatively wide hip belt distributes the weight of the backpack well across the hips, and the straps do not press on the shoulders, which allows for hands-free shooting. The backpack's shoulder straps are comfortable and thick, although the padding is not as thick as in the first version of the backpack - this is a small sacrifice that LowePro has made to give the backpack a slightly more solo design.

The backpack has a separate compartment for a 7-inch tablet and a padded pocket for batteries, chargers and cables. The built-in All Weather AW Cover™ can be pulled over the backpack and provides protection against rain, snow, dust and sand. The backpack has mesh pockets on both sides that can hold a water bottle or other similar sized item.
