The most noticeable change to the Insta360 X3 is the large rectangular touchscreen, which makes it easier to control camera functions, navigate menus, and review footage. There are also physical buttons on the body, so it's now much easier to start and stop video recording, as well as switch between 360 and single-lens modes.

Featuring a slightly larger sensor and brighter optics than its predecessor, the camera records video at 5.7 resolution and 30fps. In single-lens mode, the camera uses only the second lens, as its name suggests. In this case, the video resolution can be a maximum of 4K and the frame rate can be up to 60 frames per second. The camera records slow-motion video at up to 180fps (3K).

One of the X3 camera's special features is the so-called Pre-recorder feature, which works in the same way as the HindSight feature on GoPro cameras. The camera is so-called alert all the time and only when you press the record button does the camera record either a 15-second or 30-second clip of what happened before you pressed the button. A feature that ensures that no surprising event goes unrecorded.
