DJI SDR Transmission 2 is a professional-grade wireless video transmission system. The system has been completely redesigned in this second version, the device is a transceiver, meaning it works as a transmitter and receiver, and the function is selected directly with a switch.

One transmitter can transmit the image to up to eight receivers and each receiver can also control the camera and the entire system can cover up to five transmitters and 40 receivers. And the system is conveniently expandable when more transmitters or receivers can be added by flipping a switch.

The image quality has now moved to the 4K era, with a maximum video transfer of DCI 4K 60P quality and 10Bit HDR color depth . Despite the increased resolution, the latency is now lower, up to 35ms. The video bitrate is 50Mbps, which is more than enough for monitoring and camera control.

Reliable transmission and new connection options

The hardware's Auto Channel 2.0 system makes frequency hopping seamless even in congested environments, and up to 5 transmitters and 40 receivers can operate in parallel at the same shooting location. The direct Wi-Fi transmission to smart devices familiar from the first generation has been removed, so smartphones and tablets are now connected via a wired connection directly to the receiver's USB-C port. Preview is done using the DJI Ronin app, which uses LUT files, histogram, false color and waveform exposure tools, and camera control on all compatible models.

In the EU, transmission is possible up to 4km away, but instead of a maximum distance, this means that the connection works reliably over a short distance, even if there is, for example, a forest in front of you or the camera is mounted on a car and operated from another vehicle.

The base unit of the device has HDMI and USB-C DisplayPort as standard connections, through which the full 4K image of the equipment is transmitted. The SDI connection has been moved to the separately sold Expansion Plate, through which SDI video transmission is possible up to 1080p 60fps quality.

Power supply is flexible with the included NP-F battery adapter, directly from a compatible DJI Ronin gimbal, or via the USB-C PD connection, which requires 15V/3A support and a recommended 65W power supply.
