Updated version 2 with subtle changes! Battery life has been extended to 340 shots and the guide number is slightly lower (approx. 14 m @ 14 mm) compared to the original EL-1 (14.1 m @ 14 mm), a compromise for better durability.

The Canon EL-1 is the manufacturer's most robust flash. With an L in the product name and a red ring around the flash head, it's a workhorse for demanding event and sports photography, red carpets or fast-paced professional photography.

Why do we praise the very low minimum output? This gives you not only raw speed and power, but also a very subtle amount of additional light when you are shooting close to your subject and don't want the look of a traditional flash photo, but rather amplifying natural light!

The LP-EL battery type is efficient and can take approximately 340 shots on a full charge. The battery is also necessary for fast shooting, as the flash is ready for the next shot after just 0.9 seconds, even at full power.

The flash battery is charged with the same LC-E6 charger as the NP-L6 batteries, but these batteries cannot be used for flash operation, as an LP-EL battery type is required for this.

The Canon EL-1 is clearly aimed at demanding use. The body is durable and made of metal. Weather protection is at the same level as in EOS 1 series cameras. The flash has active cooling and you can take pictures in succession at full power for up to 170 frames!

The flash head is also designed to be durable and offers precise power control and color reproduction. The EL-1 is naturally compatible with Canon's RT radio triggers. The flash head covers a range of 24-200mm. The flash has an adjustable LED modeling light.
