Lighting bases

A wide selection of lighting stands for studio lights, speedlights, LED panels and other lighting solutions. Light stands / flash stands / studio stands differ in terms of purpose, materials and additional features.

When choosing a light stand, you should consider the following:

  1. Choose a sturdy stand: add up the weight of your light and any light modifiers you may have. Choose a stand with a load capacity that is greater than the reading.
  2. Don't choose a stand that is too high. Think about the maximum height you need the light at, and choose a stand that is slightly higher. For example, a 3m stand set at 2.5m is more stable than a 2.5m stand pulled out to its maximum height of 2.5m.
  3. Consider whether you want to carry a studio stand with you to locations, or whether you will only use the light stand in the studio.

What type of tripod is right for your light?

Studio photographers, location photographers, production studios and live performers need different types of support for their lighting. There are many different variations of light stands, but they can be roughly divided into a few main groups.

Basic light stands:

Simple, basic light stands are versatile and well suited for relatively lightweight flash units and small light modifiers. The stands themselves are lightweight, so they can easily be carried around by a mobile photographer.

C-Stands light stand:

C-Stand stands are popular with professionals and are the industry standard in both film productions and professional photography studios. The popularity of C-Stand flash stands is due to their durability, sturdiness, and easy storage. C-Stands are typically made of stainless steel, so they can withstand the rigors of filming locations, as well as environmental and weather conditions better than any other stand. On the other hand, C-Stands are heavy and bulky, so they are not the easiest to carry around on filming gigs.

C-Stands have many features, one of which is the 'Turtle Base', which makes it easy to place sandbags on top for additional weight. The stands also usually have a leveling foot, which allows one leg to be adjusted if the terrain is uneven. In the transport position, the legs fold together, making the stand easy to store.

Crank / Wind-Up Light Stand:

Wind-Up stands are designed for large and heavy lights. The stand's crank helps raise or lower the center tube smoothly and effortlessly, making it safer to position heavy lights accurately.

Backlight stands:

A back light stand is also called a zero stand. Low back light stands are an excellent choice for lighting backgrounds, or when I need light from a low height. In addition, they are suitable for shooting on a table, for example.
