Peak Design Clutch (v3) hand strap

This is the latest CL-3 model! The differences from the previous CL-2 version are the new Dyneema anchor loops and the new v3 Standard Plate quick release plate

The Peak Design Clutch is a padded, quick-release wrist strap that uses Peak Design's patented Anchor Link quick-release system. The hand strap provides a more relaxed grip because you don't have to squeeze your hand as much on the camera. The wrist strap also allows you to use the camera's controls with a firm grip.

The Clutch can be used with any camera, whether your camera is a small compact or a large compact with a battery grip. However, the Clutch strap is best suited for all mirrorless compacts, and micro compacts such as the Olympus OM-D E-M1 and E-M1 Mark II (and other cameras of the same size/shape).

One end of the clutch strap attaches to the quick release plate attached to the bottom of the camera (included in the sales package). The other end of the strap attaches to one of the camera's strap loops.

The included Peak Design Standard Plate (v3) is compatible with ARCA-type tripods. The Standard Plate has 4 loops that can be used to attach the Micro Anchors used on Peak Design camera straps.

The included Anchor Link links are made of Dyneema fiber, which is much stronger and more abrasion resistant than Kevlar or Vectran. The Dyneema webbing has three layers. The top layer is black, underneath is a yellow layer of fiber and the core of the webbing is red. The colors indicate when the webbing has worn out enough to need replacing.

01. Using a Clutch Strap on Mirrorless and Smaller Cameras
A clutch can be a great help in many cases when it comes to holding onto your camera. However, there are a few things to consider when choosing a strap.

The clutch belt will not function as intended in the following cases.

1. The camera shutter button is directly in line with the strap mount. In this case, it is difficult, or in some cases impossible, to get your hand in a position where your finger can reach the shutter button.
2. The strap mount is vertically centered on the body (Leica M9 as one example). The clutch strap requires the strap mount to be at the top of the body.
3. The camera has a small grip or no grip at all. To make the Clutch strap comfortable to use, the camera should have a moderate grip on which the hand rests. This grip size also relates to the previously mentioned point “1”. When there is a grip, the camera shutter button is out of line with the strap mount -> the hand is in a more natural position and the finger reaches for the shutter button

02. Does Clutch work with battery grips?
Yes it works! The Clutch is highly adjustable, meaning it can be attached to almost any size camera. All you need is a standard 1/4” tripod thread and a regular sized strap loop.

03. What kind of tripods is Clutch compatible with?
The Clutch camera strap comes with a Strandard-plate Arca-compatible quick release plate that is compatible with most Arca-Swiss camera heads. You can see a more detailed list at this link
