Celestron StarSense Explorer 10' Dobsonian star telescope

Now it's a blast! Celestron Starsense is the second largest 10' Dobsonian telescope, with this you can also see deep sky objects well. Kameraliike.fi recommends! Due to its size, it is best if the viewing location is close. On the other hand, the tube and stand can be split into two parts and fit in a car and are quick to assemble even in the countryside. The magnification is the same in this and the 8' model, the difference is in the light collection and the larger usable magnification.

Celestron has included a phone mount for the telescope and the Starsense app for your smartphone, which makes it easy to find objects in the starry sky. Your phone will guide you in which direction you need to turn the telescope!

This is especially good with a Dobsonian-style telescope! Dobsonian telescopes are often recommended for beginners because of their low price compared to the features. They are quick and easy to assemble and you can see, for example, Messier objects.

The downside of Dobsonian telescopes has been that they are completely manual, meaning that you have to search for nebulae by jumping from constellation to constellation. The Starsense software and your own smartphone are particularly helpful here.

This telescope works best in good viewing conditions and in low light. If you live a little further from the city center or if you have a car (the tube and stand can be quickly detached, the tube in the back seat and the stand in the trunk and off you go!) even the faintest objects in the universe will open up!

  • With Starsense, you don't need any previous experience with stargazing telescopes or a detailed knowledge of constellations! You can get started right away and start searching for targets.
  • Tonight's best - the best items to watch every day
  • 10' Newtonian telescope with StarBright XLT coating
  • Light gathering power (compared to human eye): 1317x
  • Sturdy hand-movable Dobsonian-type alt-az tripod, the telescope is balanced and mounted on bearings, making it easy to find a target with one hand
  • The sales package includes a Plössl 25mm eyepiece, StarSense phone mount, red dot sight, and a license for the phone program.

StarSense Explorer App for your phone

Celestron's StarSense Explorer is the first app available for consumer telescopes that allows you to use your smartphone to orient yourself to objects in the starry sky.

From the phone app, you simply select the object you want to observe. The app will instruct you in which direction to turn the telescope. The position indicated by the telescope will update in real time on the phone screen, and when you are at the desired object, the cursor will turn green.

Tonight's Best

Stargazing usually starts with learning a few constellations and locating them in the sky with the naked eye. Tonight's Best is a feature of the Starsense Explorer app that suggests the best objects to view at the moment. The list is updated according to your location, meaning the app offers the objects that are visible from your location. Depending on the season, location and time of day, the list may include planets like Jupiter or Saturn, galaxies, nebulae or star clusters.
