A lightweight and compact, versatile ultra-wide-angle zoom lens with a fixed f/4 aperture and image stabilization. The lens is weather and dust sealed. The lens features Canon's four-stop image stabilization technology. It detects the normal movement caused by shooting or panning and selects the most appropriate image stabilization mode for the shooting situation.
The ring-type ultrasonic motor makes autofocus extremely fast and virtually silent. You can fine-tune focus with the always-available manual focus without switching off autofocus. The non-rotating front element makes it easy to attach 77mm filters and keeps polarizing filter adjustments in place. The closest focusing distance across the entire zoom range is just 0.28m.
