L-series quality
The lens uses high-quality optics from Canon's top-of-the-line L-series. Thanks to its durable construction and dust and moisture protection, the lens is suitable for harsh weather conditions.

Hybrid image stabilization
The new image stabilizer is designed specifically for use with macro lenses. It can correct for lens shift movement as well as angular movement, which most IS systems can't. This allows for 2 stops of correction at 1.0x magnification, 3 stops of correction at 0.5x magnification, and 4 stops of correction during normal shooting.

UD (ultra low dispersion) lens element ensures high-quality images
The lens's UD element effectively eliminates chromatic aberration, delivering excellent image quality and sharpness, as well as stunning color reproduction.

Focus limiter
For enhanced usability, the lens is equipped with a 3-position focus limiter. Focus can be limited to near subjects, distant subjects, or all subjects, allowing the user to increase autofocus speed and thus take pictures quickly.

Beautiful background blur with a circular aperture with 9 aperture blades
The circular aperture makes it easy to emphasize the subject by creating a pleasant and even background blur when shooting at a large aperture.

Fast and quiet autofocus
The ring-shaped ultrasonic motor performs autofocus very quickly and almost silently. Switching to continuous, mechanical manual focusing is possible without leaving autofocus mode. The lens has a minimum focusing distance of 0.3 m.
