The Tamron 17-35mm Di OSD is a compact and lightweight wide-angle lens for full-frame bodies such as the D610 and D750. The lens has a 17mm wide-angle aperture of only f/2.8. On a smaller APS-C body (e.g. the D7200 and D5600), the equivalent focal length is approximately 26-53mm . The versatile focal length is great for landscape photography, architectural photography and sports photography when you're looking for a dramatic angle of view.

The Tamron 17-35mm weighs just 460 grams . Thanks to its weight, the lens also worked great for video use with a gimbal stabilizer. The Tamron 17-35mm is a kind of smaller and lighter sister model to the Tamron 15-30mm f/2.8 Di VC lens.

Autofocus is handled by a new OSD (Optimized Silent Drive) focus motor. Fast and quiet focusing also helps when shooting video, as the sounds of the focus motor are not recorded in the video.

The lens structure consists of 15 lens elements in 10 groups. Four LD and two aspherical special lenses are used, which reduce the lens's chromatic aberrations and improve sharpness. When shooting with wide-angle lenses, bright light sources such as the sun often enter the image area, and Tamron uses a BBAR coating in this lens that reduces reflections and improves contrast. The lens's 7 diaphragm blades are rounded. The closest focusing distance is 28cm.

The lens is weather and dust protected with rubber seals, and the front lens contains a fluorite coating that prevents dirt and makes cleaning easier.

The Tamron 17-35mm is compatible with the Tamron TAP-in Console USB dock. The TAP-in console allows you to update the lens' software and adjust autofocus performance.
