The second generation OM-5 Mark II brings significant improvements to the handling of the OM-5 camera and offers new creative features for shooting. Here are the main updates:

OM System has once again made a camera that is very suitable for Finnish use . Very good weather protection encourages you to take the camera out into nature even when the weather is demanding on the equipment, often when the best pictures are taken. The body and lenses are light and can be taken even on longer hikes.

The OM System includes many features familiar from the manufacturer's more robust models, as well as features that make shooting easier. Here are a few highlights:

Autofocus and fast continuous shooting capture even fast-moving animals and birds. Live Composite makes low-light photography easy as the exposure is built up on the camera screen in real time, meaning you don't need to know the appropriate exposure times for night photography in advance. This is a feature that other manufacturers don't have!

Starry Sky AF is also suitable for night photography, focusing on the starry sky in sharp focus. LiveND, a software-based ND filter, enables long exposure times even in daylight, without the need for separate additional filters.

And when you come across a unique landscape, you can capture it as a 50-megapixel Handheld High Res image handheld without a tripod. The camera then takes multiple shots, slightly changes the position using the camera stabilizer, and automatically combines these shots into a highly detailed image file. The feature works with stationary objects such as landscapes, previously this feature required a tripod, but as cameras have become more powerful, the same can be done conveniently handheld.

The camera features ProCapture burst mode, previously known from the top-of-the-line E-M1 III and OM-1 models, meaning the camera takes pictures continuously even when the shutter is pressed halfway and automatically saves, for example, 15 images before and 15 images after pressing the shutter. This allows you to time a bird of prey attack or a sports performance just right!

Continuous shooting is possible with either a traditional mechanical shutter or an electronic shutter. The electronic shutter is silent and allows for the fastest continuous shooting modes. In addition, the viewfinder image does not darken at all, which allows you to keep your subject carefully framed even during movement.

Nature is often at its best when the light comes from a lower angle and there may be an atmospheric element in the air, such as snowfall or fog. The previous E-M1 III was already IPX-level weatherproof, but now it promises more robust IP53 weatherproofing, meaning it can withstand water pressure, or in Finnish, rain. You need to use a lens that is weatherproof to the same level, and OM System has released two of these: the 12-40 Pro II and the 40-150 F4 telephoto lens.

Video recording is now possible in 4K resolution without time limits! In addition, slow-motion videos can be captured at 120FPS, i.e. four times slow-motion. The OM-5 also works as a top-level webcam for video calls or streaming. Simply connect the camera to your computer with a USB cable and you can select the OM-5 as the image source directly from Teams or other services.

The battery type is the BLS-50 familiar from previous models and offers approximately 310 images (approximately 600 with power saving activated) or 60 minutes of video recording on a single charge.
