The Kenko zoom set includes 10mm and 16mm zoom rings, which can be used together or separately to shorten the focusing distance. Both zoom rings transmit electrical information, i.e. aperture and focus information, between the lens and the body.
Note: The Canon RF 35mm F1.8 MACRO IS STM lens is not compatible with this zoom ring set.
The zoom ring is placed between the camera body and the lens, which reduces the focusing distance of the lens. The more zoom rings there are between the body and the lens, i.e. the further the lens is from the body, the closer the camera can focus. With zoom rings, the lens cannot focus far, so the rings are useful for close-up/macro photography.
Zooming out reduces the lens's brightness, but sharpness is not lost because there are no glass elements in the zoom rings.
Extension tubes increase the magnification of a lens according to the following formula: extension millimeters divided by the optical length of the lens. For example, when a 25mm extension tube is placed between a 50mm lens and the camera body, the magnification increases by 0.5X (the equation is 25mm / 50mm = 0.5). So if the original magnification of the lens was 0.15X, it is now 0.15X + 0.5X = 0.65X.
This zoom ring set works with Canon DSLR bodies and Canon RF lenses.
The Kenko Extension Tube Set for Canon RF mount includes 2 rings, 10 mm and 16 mm, which can be used together to achieve a longer focal length.
