Canon EF 85mm telephoto lens with F/1.8 aperture. The aperture is weaker than the L-series version and the lens does not have image stabilization or exotic lens elements. On the other hand, the price and weight are very reasonable. This lens simply works. The circular aperture softens and smooths out-of-focus areas, so in-focus subjects stand out well against the softened background. The front element of the lens does not rotate during focusing, so you can attach special filters to the lens, such as polarizing or ND filters.
The f/1.8 aperture allows for handheld shooting in difficult and low-light conditions and control of the depth of field. In addition to portrait photography, the lens works great for shooting indoor sports or dog activities, for example, thanks to the aperture you can use shutter speeds that freeze motion. The cine-equivalent focal length on Canon's APS-C sensor size cameras is 136mm.
The lens transmits distance information to the E-TTL II metering system of a compatible EOS camera, providing the best possible flash exposure metering.
