Stylish design and compact size of the Thypoch Eureka 50mm lens. Leica M mount.

The Thypoch Eureka 50mm lens borrows its design and folding mechanism from decades past, but the image quality is highly praised. Just the right amount of sharpness and refined detail!
The lens is mechanically similar to Leica's Collapsible 50mm lenses (of which there are many, the newer Elmars and Summicrons and the older Summar and Summitar), but this lens has slightly more exotic roots. The rare (especially very rare in good working condition) Taylor-Hobson 2-inch F2 Anastigmat has served as a fairly accurate model.
The Thypoch Eureka 50mm is a special quality lens. The optical design is traditional but it includes modern special lenses, the image is sharp at full F2 aperture. Vignetting is visible at first but this can be removed in processing or reduced by dimming if desired. But this is not even aiming for super sharp expression, but there is a certain style of drawing. The appearance and the feel of the images go quite well hand in hand!
The Thypoch Eureka 50mm suffers from some focus shift, meaning that there is no problem with focusing at full aperture, but for example at aperture 4 the focus shifts slightly and this is probably why the closest focusing distance is 91cm. So when shooting close-up portraits, full aperture or shooting through the viewfinder works best. This phenomenon is only visible when shooting close-up, meaning that there is no problem when shooting slightly further away objects or landscapes.

In terms of usability, this is quite good for such a traditional model, the aperture ring stays in place when focusing, which is good because there are no clicks with the aperture values. The lens can be easily adjusted to the transport position and even in the shooting position the lens feels sturdy and well machined. There are no fewer than 12 aperture rings, meaning the aperture remains very round even at smaller apertures.
There is no actual filter thread on the lens, but it accepts the rarer 36 filters without a thread. Fortunately, it comes with a UV filter with mounting accessories and a lens hood.
This aluminum version is not only small but also light, weighing 120g. This version has an aluminum body, but the parts related to the rangefinder, for example, are made of brass.
