At its best, it can be taken on long walks and hikes, for example. The same lens can capture landscape shots and detailed close-ups of animals, for example.
Tamron 28-200mm is a completely new superzoom lens. This is a new design for full-frame mirrorless cameras such as the Sony a7 series and the lens is quite light (575g) and only 11.7cm long. The aperture in the wide-angle position is also F2.8, which is rare in such long lenses, so even low-light photography is possible.
The closest focusing distance is 19cm at 28mm and 0.8cm at 200mm telephoto. The lens is very similar to Tamron's other highly popular lenses (28-75 and 70-180), the filter thread is the same 67mm. Sony's advanced focusing features such as EyeAF and DMF also work fully with the lens.
The Tamron 28-200mm is also weather-sealed. In addition, the front lens element is treated with a dirt- and water-repellent coating.
