SantaColor 100 is a 36-frame cine-format color negative film with an ISO value of 100. The film material is manufactured by Kodak and is Kodak Aerocolor IV aerial photography film canned by Kamerastore. The same film material has also been sold under the names Luminar 100, Film Electra 100, and Film Washi X, so there are many reviews online.
The colors are strong enough for those looking for the feel of film photography, the film has strong reds and lush green tones. The neutrality is not at the level of basic Portra or Fuji films and if the purpose is portrait photography, this is not the best option. But it is really great for landscapes and atmospheric photos if the main thing is not skin tones (or their so-called neutral reproduction). Despite the Santa Claus theme of the name, it is probably the best for shooting autumn colors.
The exposure range is flexible and can be used up to 800 ISO with push-processing overdevelopment, which reduces color accuracy and increases graininess only slightly. When shot at ISO 50 and 100, the grain is very fine. The film base is clear, meaning there is no traditional red mask. This film also scans nicely.
Because these films are canned using the recycling principle, there is no DX code on the cassette, but paperbacks often use the ISO 100 setting if this cannot be read from the can.
Made in the USA and hand wound in Finland.
