A super wide (135 degrees) wide-angle lens, but not a fisheye. Perspective distortion is not corrected, so objects at the edges appear to stretch towards the center of the image.
With lenses this wide, every millimetre counts and this is clearly wider than, for example, the Samyang XP 10mm, let alone 11 or 12mm lenses. The difference is significant.
Because foreground objects appear proportionally larger than background objects, the sense of space in images is enhanced. This makes this 9mm lens suitable for landscape photography as well as interior and architectural photography. If you have a camera with good sensitivity or a tracking motor, you can also use the lens for astrophotography.
The short focusing distance of just 12cm allows you to focus on very close subjects. Since it is a wide-angle lens, the surroundings/background are also visible in the image. The depth of field emphasizes the subject being photographed.
This lens has a focus ring, but there's not much you can do with it. The image is sharp at almost all settings from a few tens of centimeters to infinity.
This Laowa 9mm is manually adjustable, meaning that the aperture is adjusted directly from the lens. To make working easier, the aperture ring has clear clicks at full apertures, but you can also leave the aperture in between.
