The Fuji X-T30 is now even better. This II update includes more memory for smoother operation in all situations, as well as a higher resolution rear screen.

The Fujifilm X-T30 shares a lot of the same features as Fuji's flagship X-T3; both have the same 26-megapixel sensor and the same super-fast processor. The autofocus system is also the same. The Fuji X-T30 is basically the X-T3 in a smaller size.

Disadvantages compared to its big brother include the lack of weather protection, lower resolution in the viewfinder, one memory card slot, and 10bit video recording only possible on an external recorder. If any of these differences are not essential, the X-T30 offers a huge range of features for its price range.

The Fujifilm X-T30 uses the same 26.1-megapixel X-Trans CMOS sensor with BSI back-illuminated technology as the X-T3. In addition to the sensor, the camera's processor is the same quad-core X-Processor 4, which is 20 times faster than the X-Pro1 and three times faster than the Fuji X-H1.

One of the benefits of speed is fast continuous shooting. The X-T30 can shoot at up to 30 frames per second using the electronic shutter (albeit with a 1.25x crop). Without cropping, the shooting speed is 20 frames per second , and with the mechanical shutter it is 8 frames per second . The camera's buffer limits continuous shooting somewhat if you shoot RAW images. At 20fps continuous shooting, you can take 17 raw images, after which the shooting speed drops.

Thanks to the sensor's high read speed, the image does not 'darken' and you can react to events throughout the series. Autofocus works continuously even during continuous shooting.

The Fuji X-T30's autofocus is even more advanced than its big brother, the Fuji X-T3, although the X-T3 will get the same features with a firmware update in 2019. The body's Hybrid autofocus consists of 425 phase-detection focus points, which now cover over 90% of the image area . The body has two focus-based features, related to face detection and how the camera reacts to subjects at different distances. The X-T30 can detect faces and eyes like the X-T3, you can now switch between faces either by tapping the touchscreen, using the body's joystick, or by modifying one of the body's buttons to act as a 'Face Select' feature.

Another new feature is known as 'Non-stop Phase Detection,' and this, according to Fujifilm, improves focus speed by 300% when moving from a distant subject to a close-up subject or vice versa. For example, if you're shooting a football match and there's a large distance difference between two subjects, the X-T30's focus should 'lock' between the subjects faster than before.

Externally, the X-T30 has the same quality as the previous X-T20. If you've handled the camera before, you'll know what to expect. The biggest change is the joystick controller on the back of the body, which has been brought over from the X-T3.

The Fujifilm X-T30 is equipped with an F-Log gamma profile, which gives you a smooth image with easy color grading. This maximizes the use of dynamic range in difficult conditions and image adjustments can be made separately for highlight tone, shadow tone, color and sharpness. When working in the F-Log environment, the camera uses an improved noise reduction algorithm. Slow-motion videos are possible in FullHD resolution at 120P frame rate.
