The StarSense Explorer Series 150 Dobsonian Tabletop Telescope includes the same StarSense software and phone holder as the larger devices, but has a convenient tabletop stand. This is best used on a sturdy table for backyard use, but is also suitable for travel.
You can also place a camping mattress next to the stand and watch while sitting. It's also easy for children to observe this way and they don't have to reach out like they do with larger telescopes.
Celestron also has 114mm and 130mm versions of these tabletop models.
The program installed on your phone will guide you in which direction you need to turn the tube, and turning is done simply by grabbing the telescope and pointing the tube according to the instructions.
With Starsense, discovering new objects is quick and easy. This stargazing telescope has a higher brightness than smaller models, so even faint objects like nebulae and galaxies can be found in the sky.
Celestron's StarSense Explorer is the first app available for consumer telescopes that allows you to use your smartphone to orient yourself to objects in the starry sky.
From the phone app, you simply select the object you want to observe. The app will instruct you in which direction to turn the telescope. The position indicated by the telescope will update in real time on the phone screen, and when you are at the desired object, the cursor will turn green.

Stargazing usually starts with learning a few constellations and locating them in the sky with the naked eye. Tonight's Best is a feature of the Starsense Explorer app that suggests the best objects to view at the moment. The list is updated according to your location, meaning the app offers the objects that are visible from your location. Depending on the season, location and time of day, the list may include planets like Jupiter or Saturn, galaxies, nebulae or star clusters.
