Celestron StarSense Explorer 130mm Tabletop Dobsonian star telescope with table stand

The StarSense Explorer Series 130 Dobsonian Tabletop Telescope includes the same StarSense software and phone holder as the larger devices, but has a convenient tabletop stand. This is best used on a sturdy table for backyard use, but is also suitable for travel.

You can also place a camping mattress next to the stand and watch while sitting. It's also easy for children to observe this way and they don't have to reach out like they do with larger telescopes.

Celestron also has 114mm and 150mm versions of these tabletop models.

The program installed on your phone will guide you in which direction you need to turn the tube, and turning is done simply by grabbing the telescope and pointing the tube according to the instructions.

With Starsense, discovering new objects is quick and easy. This stargazing telescope has a higher brightness than smaller models, so even faint objects like nebulae and galaxies can be found in the sky.
  • 130mm diameter telescope
  • A wider image and more light output!
  • Really easy pipe routing
  • Table model stand
  • Attaches to a smartphone, allowing you to get a real-time view of the sky when combined with the StarSense Explorer app.
  • The application provides instructions for aligning the telescope
  • Moving the telescope with rotating handles allows for precise movements at high magnification
  • Includes a red dot sight if you want to use the telescope without a smart device
  • Two eyepieces included
  • Magnification: 26x/65x

This telescope includes a high-quality primary mirror and good beginner eyepieces! Good image quality in a small package. Moderate magnification means better light output, this model has received praise from first-time users.
The low magnification is a good thing for this model, the brightness is better and the aiming is easy. The brightness combined with the quality of the optics allows for a very wide range of celestial objects to be observed.

StarSense Explorer App for your phone

Celestron's StarSense Explorer is the first app available for consumer telescopes that allows you to use your smartphone to orient yourself to objects in the starry sky.

From the phone app, you simply select the object you want to observe. The app will instruct you in which direction to turn the telescope. The position indicated by the telescope will update in real time on the phone screen, and when you are at the desired object, the cursor will turn green.

Tonight's Best

Stargazing usually starts with learning a few constellations and locating them in the sky with the naked eye. Tonight's Best is a feature of the Starsense Explorer app that suggests the best objects to view at the moment. The list is updated according to your location, meaning the app offers the objects that are visible from your location. Depending on the season, location and time of day, the list may include planets like Jupiter or Saturn, galaxies, nebulae or star clusters.
