Zoom H5 audio recorder

The H5 is a four-track audio recorder with two internal microphones in an XY stereo configuration. The recorder accepts Zoom microphone modules, so you can connect a shotgun mic, for example, directly to it. The 1/4' thread allows you to attach the microphone to a tripod, for example.

The recorder has an XLR-Combo connection with phantom power, so you can also connect a more robust external microphone or, for example, an instrument. The metronome and chromatic tuner are great tools for musicians.

In addition to 2-track stereo recording, the recorder supports multi-track recording, allowing you to choose to record either four mono tracks or two stereo tracks. Timestamps in the files make it easier to synchronize audio and video in post-processing.

For storage, the H5 uses a maximum 32GB SD or SDHC memory card and transferring files to a computer is easy using a USB cable.

The variable playback speed and pitch work independently, meaning that changing one will keep the other unchanged. This is handy when recording songs or when you need to make a subject's voice unrecognizable.
