The Tactical RT version of the popular Vortex Solo series. The difference from the standard version is the included range reticle. If you don't need a reticle, check out this product.
Optically, this is the same as the Vortex Solo 8x36, meaning it is equally suitable for viewers who wear glasses.
The budget-friendly Solo Tactical is aimed at users who want to estimate distances and are looking for a lightweight and compact device for nature observation, as well as those who don't want to carry regular binoculars with them.
The monocular is suitable for precision shooting, hunting, hiking, backpacking, excursions, hunters, and as an auxiliary tool in a nature photographer's backpack.
The 8x magnification is wide enough for observation but is less susceptible to hand shake and other vibrations than a higher magnification unit. The combination of the 8x magnification and the 36mm front lens provides a 60-degree apparent field of view, which is approximately 131m at 1000m. The closest focusing distance is 4.9m.
The Vortex Solo Tactical RT has two focus rings - the ring at the base of the eyepiece focuses the reticle, and the wider focus ring in the center of the monocular focuses the image itself. The knobs on the focus rings make it easy to see and turn the focus ring, even when wearing gloves. Focusing from the closest focus distance to infinity requires less than one rotation, so focusing is fast.
The rubberized body increases the impact resistance of the viewer, thus improving the chances of it being saved if accidentally dropped or bumped. The rubberized shell also improves grip, which is an important feature in damp or wet weather, as well as when wearing gloves.
The Solo monocular is waterproof. Thanks to the O-ring seals, the body is protected against moisture and dust, making the device waterproof. The seals are also airtight and the interior of the body is nitrogen-filled. This combination prevents fogging of the glass surfaces from the inside, as well as fogging, which often occurs when the temperature changes quickly, such as when going from a warm interior to a cold winter day.
The eye relief of the Vortex Solo Tactical 8x36 binoculars is 18mm. This is what makes this 8x magnification monocular stand out from the other monoculars in this series. 18mm is a sufficient size for most people who wear glasses, so the 8x36 is the best option for those who wear glasses.
The Vortex Solo Tactical RT monocular features an MRAD (MIll / Milliradian) based reticle that also includes several silhouettes that make it easy to estimate the size and distance of a target. So instead of having to do calculations, you can use the silhouettes to estimate the distance and size of a target.
