The Voigtländer VM 35mm f/2.0 Ultron has a traditional look, so it would be right at home with Leicas or Bessa cameras of different ages, but the optical design is the latest Voigtländer. It features an aspherical lens element, modern multi-layer coatings and 10 diaphragm blades. This is really small considering its performance.
In the Voigtländer series, this sits between the much larger 35mm F2 APO and the Nokton, which is based on an older lens design. This means good, neutral image quality in a small package, making it a great choice for a first M-mount lens, for example.
The Voigtländer Ultron is a good basic product from the manufacturer, meaning the mechanical quality is very good. When you pick up the lens, you are confused by its weight, meaning this is truly machined metal and glass instead of plastic and air. The focus tab is a finger rest to help with focusing.
