The Nikon TC-14E ??II teleconverter, which came as a replacement, increases the focal length of the lenses by 1.4 times. It is recommended only for fast telephoto optics (lenses with a maximum aperture of f/2.8 or f/4). When using the teleconverter, the maximum aperture is reduced by one stop. For example, when used with a 400mm f/2.8 lens, the field of view becomes equivalent to 560mm at an f/4 aperture.
