Ricoh continues its line of high-quality and interesting 360 cameras with the Ricoh Theta X. The Ricoh Z1 has been a very popular camera and this ThetaX takes it a step further. The Ricoh Theta X has many things that are familiar from previous Theta cameras, such as the small stick-like size. The Ricoh Theta X is significantly cheaper than the hefty Insta360 Pro 2 or Panono.
Ricoh Theta X also works great with services like Kuula and Matterport, so sharing and using images is easy!
The Ricoh Theta X is Ricoh's first 360-degree camera with a 2.25-inch touchscreen, a removable battery and a microSD card slot. Unlike previous Ricoh Theta cameras that relied on a smartphone (or tablet) to transfer footage and photos, edit them and control the camera, the Ricoh Theta X allows you to control all of this directly from the camera's touchscreen. Although the screen on the side of the camera is significantly smaller than a smartphone's screen, the biggest advantage of the screen is that you don't have to worry about connecting your mobile device to the camera. Of course, it is still possible to connect the Theta X camera to a smartphone or tablet.
Inside the Ricoh Theta X camera, you will find a new 48-megapixel CMOS sensor (2 pcs), an updated processor and an improved lens, which results in even better image quality. The Ricoh Theta X takes 60-mpix still images, and the video resolution is 5.7K (5760 x 2880) at 30fps. Like the Theta Z1, the X has a 360° camera model that runs on the Android operating system. With the Android operating system, users can install applications on the camera for new features.
A compact 360 camera is an excellent tool for a travel camera to record experiences from a slightly different perspective than a traditional camera. In addition, the Ricoh Theta is widely used in various businesses around the world; 360 technology brings added value to, for example, travel agencies and real estate agents, as the property can be presented to the client in detail using a moving video. For architects and builders, 360 video gives the opportunity to monitor the progress of work even in difficult conditions.
Videos and photos recorded by Ricoh can be shared on YouTube or Facebook. The files are uploaded to the services as true 360 videos, meaning you can move your gaze by using the mouse or moving the device.
