The Portkeys BM5 IV is designed to meet the needs of the most demanding film productions, where durability and brightness are paramount. The monitor’s robust all-aluminum chassis and tempered glass hide a whopping 2000 nits panel. This means you’ll see crystal clear images even in direct midday sunlight without the need for bulky lens hoods. The BM5 IV is more than a monitor – it’s an intelligent control center for your camera.
Camera control directly from the screen: The BM5 IV allows you to adjust critical camera settings such as ISO, aperture and recording directly from the monitor's touchscreen. It supports a wide range of professional cameras, including models from Sony, Canon, Panasonic and Blackmagic.
The BM5 IV is equipped with the latest Portkeys software, which provides all the tools required for professional videography. You have access to a highly accurate Waveform, Vectorscope, Histogram and the professional-respected False Color (including ARRI mode). Thanks to 3D LUT support, you can load your own color specifications via a USB stick, and the monitor can output the LUT-processed signal via the SDI connection to other displays or a video link.
The new CINENORM operating system allows you to personalize your workflow with seven different pages. You can quickly switch between exposure tools and composition aids with a single swipe. In addition, the monitor supports anamorphic lens de-squeeze at various ratios, which is essential when using professional-grade optics.
The physical durability of the device is top-notch, but it has still been kept relatively light (358g). The monitor uses common Sony NP-F series batteries for power supply, and also has a professional 4-pin DC connector for external power (7.4V-24V). There is also a power output (DC Out) on the back of the monitor, from which you can power small accessories, such as a wireless focus motor. An intelligent cooling system ensures that the device does not overheat even during long shooting sessions.
