The tints are simple to use. No cutting, no taping, no creasing, and no other unnecessary things. Simply slide the tint you want into the MagGel frame (not included) and the frame attaches to the flash with a magnet. The package comes with 8 different tints to tint and correct lighting. The tints are made of durable polycarbonate plastic, so they can withstand bending and handling.

To balance indoor incandescent lights or sunsets, you can use Full CTO , 1/2 CTO or 1/4 CTO (Color Temperature Orange) gels. These “warm up” the flash’s own color temperature to match the tones of sunsets or indoor lamps, for example. Each gel comes in different strengths, and you can use them either alone or together by combining different filters.
1/2 Plusgreen Gel is for situations where you need to balance the tone of your flash with fluorescent lights. Fluorescent lights are warmer (approx. 3800K) but also have a green tint.
1/2 Straw is very similar to 1/2 CTO. This is also a “warming” gel but this one has a slightly yellowish tone which is great for making people’s skin tones more vibrant. Sometimes 1/2 CTO can be too orange which makes post-processing more difficult, so in that case you might want to try 1/2 Straw gel.
1/2 Blue is a CTB (Color Temperature Blue) gel that “cools” the color temperature. This can be used, for example, when photographing a model at sunset. In post-processing, when you change the white balance of the subject to match the daylight, the environment will be pushed “warmer” making the sunset even more dramatic.
3-stop Neutral Density is the same as using a ND filter in landscape photography. A 3-stop ND gel reduces the light output of the flash by 3 stops. This is useful when you want to set the flash output lower than the flash settings allow. This is necessary, for example, when shooting indoors, where the lowest flash output setting is still too bright for the situation.
Opal Frost Diffusion Gel is intended for situations where you want to diffuse light without significantly reducing light output. Diffused light reduces contrast, minimizes specular reflections and softens the light.
Note! This requires a MagGel frame to attach the gels to the flash unit's MagGrip collar.
