Kowa SV III 8x42 is a lightweight, weatherproof all-purpose binocular with a wide 7.2 degree field of view. The perfect companion for nature observation. Long 10-year warranty!

Kowa SV III is the latest version of Kameralieki's best-selling binocular series. Kowa SV III is an excellent all-round binocular for observing nature: thanks to the 8x magnification, the binoculars are comfortable to observe for longer periods of time, and the 42 mm diameter ensures clear views even when nature is at its best, i.e. at dawn and dusk.
The SV III series binoculars are waterproof, so you can use them even in the most demanding conditions, for example by the water and in the Finnish summer climate. Thanks to the nitrogen filling, the binoculars also do not fog up.
If you're wondering which binocular magnification and lens diameter would be best for you, this is often the one!
Expert review: Differences between Kowa SV II, SV III and BD series
We had the opportunity to test these new binoculars in advance at Kameralieikke, and this time the differences from the predecessor are clearly greater than just fine-tuning. The optical structure has been renewed, the coatings have been updated, and the wider viewing angle is noticeable at first glance. Despite the lighter weight, the binoculars sit firmly in the hand and the focus ring has excellent response. The improvements are so significant that the collection almost deserved a new name.
If you are interested in an even better model series as an alternative, the BD II offers a few advantages. The main difference between the BD II and the more affordable SV III series is the materials used and the XD lenses. These XD lens elements effectively eliminate errors such as chromatic aberration from the image, meaning the image looks sharper, especially in detail, and even in challenging conditions (for example around tree branches) there is no red chromatic aberration. Nikon uses the ED name for similar lenses.
The BD binoculars have a very durable magnesium body, but this also adds weight. However, the difference in field of view between the binoculars is now closer to each other, as the SV III is clearly better than the old SV series in this respect.
The binoculars are quite light, and the weight of this 8x42 version is about 555 grams, so viewing comfort remains good even on longer viewing trips. The twist-up eyecups made of soft silicone feel pleasant against the skin even in cold weather, and the front of the binoculars has the most common 1/4" mounting point for tripod adapters, so using the binoculars on a tripod or stand is a breeze.
The Kowa SV III 8x42 binoculars are lined with a rubber protective coating that helps protect the optics and allows for a firmer grip even when the surface of the binoculars is slightly wet.
And you don't have to worry about the weather! The binoculars are completely waterproof and have an anti-fog nitrogen filling, so even heavy rain won't be a problem.
Focusing is done via a relatively large and roughened focus wheel in the middle of the binoculars. The focus ring has a nice, firm feel. Focusing is quite fast, meaning it doesn't require much movement, which is great for birdwatching in particular.
The closest focusing distance is 3 meters. The binoculars have a long 10-year warranty.
The sales package includes: Kowa SV III 8x42 binoculars, lens caps, soft carrying case and padded neck strap.
