Canon's 8x20 binoculars are the lightest model of stabilizer binoculars.
Canon Binoculars 8x20 IS are binoculars equipped with IS image stabilization, which brings distant objects 8 times closer. The powerful Optical Image Stabilizer reduces image shake and vibration that occurs when viewing the binoculars handheld or in moving vehicles.
We recommend these binoculars to you if:
If you have steady hands and/or your intention is to view mainly in the darkest conditions, then these binoculars may not be the first one we recommend.
The Canon Binoculars 8x20 IS binoculars are stabilized using Lens-Shift technology , which combines a gyroscope and a microprocessor. The gyroscope's job is to detect movement and sway in the user's hands, after which the microprocessor controls the lens group inside the binoculars. The lens group moves vertically and horizontally depending on how much the viewer's hands sway with the binoculars, and the image is effectively stabilized. Thanks to the new stabilizer technology, the binoculars' closest focusing distance has also been reduced.
The binoculars' image stabilizer includes two different modes:
The stabilizer can also be turned off completely, allowing the binoculars to function as normal binoculars.
