The Panasonic 70-300mm continues the S-series of lenses, meaning it is a great lens mechanically and in terms of image quality. Thanks to its moderate and variable aperture, the weight and size are also suitable for mobile photographers and videographers.
The lens has up to 11 rounded diaphragm blades, so areas outside the depth of field are beautifully soft and when dimming, a striking sunstar effect is visible. The closest focusing distance is only 54m even at the full 300mm focal length, meaning detailed subjects can be captured even from small objects.

The Panasonic 70-300mm includes optical image stabilization and this also works in conjunction with the sensor-moving stabilization of Panasonic cameras, giving a combined stabilization effect of 5.5 stops.
Like Panasonic products, the Lumix S 70-300 is great for video shooting. Focus breathing and focus shift are minimized here, like more expensive film lenses, meaning the focal length of the image does not change disturbingly during zooming and the focus remains in the right position even when changing the focal length.
The lens is properly weather-sealed and can withstand freezing temperatures. The fluorine coating on the front lens element makes cleaning easier. The lens's zoom lock and focus limitation, for example, only allow for longer distances, make it easier to use.
