The Panasonic Lumix G Vario 12-32mm is an extremely compact and stylish metal-bodied wide-angle lens for Micro Four Thirds (m4/3) bodies . In transport mode, it is only 24mm thick when measured from the camera mount to the lens.

The lens's built-in MEGA OIS optical image stabilizer makes it easier to take pictures even in low light by reducing blur caused by hand shake.

The lens has 8 elements in 7 groups. Three aspherical lenses were used to significantly shorten the physical length of the lens without compromising its optical performance. An ED (Extra-low Dispersion) lens minimizes chromatic aberration at the corners of the image throughout the zoom range. Optical performance is supported by a multi-layer coating on the lenses, which reduces ghosting and flare. Seven diaphragm blades give the aperture a circular shape, so that at large aperture settings, the out-of-focus areas of the image are naturally soft.
